I usually don't like Elijah Craig products, but this one is rather good. The tannins are strong and there is some bitterness to the drink, but it quickly leaves and becomes a dry finish with no lingering bitterness.

I purchased the first barrel of the 20 year old (the one that came out to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the bourbon festival) and it was outstanding. But the decision to "temporarily" discontinue the 18 year old and put out a 20 year old at almost 3 times the price is reprehensible. I will not be buying any of these 20 year old bottles. Good to see you enjoyed the finish Mike. I remember our discussion at the Miller House when you mentioned that the finish to EC 18 year old was like rotten peaches.
Exactly Vince. How does an EC 18yr SB cost $35 at my local Costco.....and after two more years in the barrel.....shoot up to $130????
Am I missing some VITAL information here? Are the EC 20yr barrels stored in some super secret ultra fantastic superior warehouse.....miles and miles away from the EC 18yr barrels? Was it not the exact same distillate going into the barrels 18 and 20 years ago?
What am I missing here?
