Ahh, you got a good one. Where did you pick this gem up? THis is how I feel about the bottle I own - 180 out from the Gilbert Bros bottle.

Nice review BB. In my experience this bourbon varies somewhat in quality, but at its best it is superb.

I had the 16 yr reserve and it was fantastic
specially the maple syrup notes on the aftertaste it gives.

Have you had any of the previous editions and, if so, how did the gold-foil compare?
Most of us who are gold-foil detractors do not name it 'bad' bourbon, just inferior to prior iterations -- while noting it is the most dear.

I am not a gold foil detractor. Quite the contrary. I've had several bottles - all excellent. I understand that there are some inferior bottles out there, especially in Australia. I have never had one and don't want one. Living about 12 miles from where this was made, it has a special place in my heart. I still have a bunch in the bunker. I hope it's all the good stuff.

A little late to reply... a retailer in Boston tipped me off to a retailer in Somerville who had three bottles, they bought 2 for themselves and celebrated. I got the last one. Lucky day. BB
