I went looking for mentions of the Wilson Distilling Co, and didn't find much. Bought in the 1960's by Seagrams.
Well today I was at a local antique shop looking for old bottles. And I found one labeled "Wilson Distilling Co. Inc.", "One pint", "Federal law forbids sale or re-use of this bottle", and on the bottom "D-86I", "18 <diamond symbol> 40", "2". The closure was for a screw cap.
I'm pretty happy with this $4 purchase except for the fact that it didn't have any whiskey in it.
The pre-pro site mentioned that they were a Maryland Distilling Company, located in Baltimore. Apparently, there also was a Wilson Distilling Co located in Philadelphia.
The Maryland State Archives contain some bottles (undated) http://speccol.mdarchives.state.md.us/m ... =inventory
Any idea as to when bottles may have required the Federal warning?
