Sorry if I'm not that helpful, as I'm still new to the whiskey world, but I bought a bottle. To me it's a more intense version of Rittenhouse. Due to the higher proof it can start a little more hot but the finish is longer and mellower. Something that really can be enjoyed neat. I even mixed a Manhattan with the Cocchi vermouth and it's a really thick/strong drink but is slightly different to (in a good way) because I find the Pikesville and Cocchi both on the more "full-bodied" end of their respective categories.
I'd really recommend grabbing a bottle if only because it's pretty available and tastes good (to me). I think it depends on the price. If it was $40 it'd be a steal, when it's $50 it's worth a try but maybe not a "buy a case of it". I know MSRP but sometimes you luck out with sales etc.
