Review from TNbourbon (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 245, Created:20050812192156, Updated:20090527153906) Purchased at: | Indiana | Purchased for: | $10.49 | Info on this bottle: | Bottled by The Bourbon de Luxe Distilling Co. (National Distillers) 1978 quart. 4 Years. | Proof Of this Bottle: | 80 | Nose: | Lots of vanilla, with sprinkled powdered sugar. Think vanilla icing as you start to whip it in the bowl. The faintest twist of lemon after a couple of minutes' aeration. | Taste: | Peak and valleys: very sweet (the powdered sugar?) on entry rolling up to noticeable heat in mid-palate, subsiding to some leathery white-pepper spice down the throat. Very light body. | Finish: | A hint of violets and lavender on the mild but medium finish. | Overall: | This is a simpler dram, with only as much complexity as a 4yo can supply -- enough notes to make a tune, if not a symphony. Nothing off-key. It's interesting enough that I will try the current Beam version for comparison's sake someday. |
