Purchased at:Toronto
Purchased for:$32.00
Info on this bottle:Current purchase
Proof Of this Bottle:81
Nose:Light oak, apple, seasoned notes
Taste:Great! Silky and soft, rye tangs subtle but there, creamy wood, no immature flavours. A perfect whiskey to sip neat. Far better than the 80 proof it displaced, and mingled to provide a different profile I understand.
Finish:Pleasant, not tannic, light smoke
Overall:This is a 9 out of 10. WT, which I've been down on in recent years, has pulled one out of the hat here. It is the kind of taste I seek to obtain in my blends; 'nuff said.

Purchased at:Weiland's Gourmet Market
Purchased for:21.99?
Nose:Orange soda and citrus, some black liquorice, leather and floral notes.
Taste:Sweet up front, liquorice comes through with some orange notes. Still quite floral and fruity.
Finish:Hangs around, leaves the tongue tingling for more but no definite flavors stand out.
Overall:Still delicious. Haven't had this for a few years and it's not as strong on the toffee and chewy caramel as I remember but stands up to what I've been looking for lately in a whiskey. Love the liquorice notes.

Purchased for:$23.00
Info on this bottle:Standard - 750 ml
Proof Of this Bottle:101
Nose:Cherry, Vanilla, Oak...Surprisingly no alcohol nose for this proof. It really smells fruity...Tropical fruits almost...
Taste:Sweet, Cinnamon, Pepper, gives way to a citrus tone. Quite pleasant really. Refreshing...I love the way it feels on my palate. Smooth, light and lingers at the back of the tongue and throat. The next sip continues to build. One must be careful at this stage for the glass may run dry...
Finish:Cinnamon and mild spicy tinge. Sweet aftertaste that stays for a good solid thirty seconds and keeps reminding you to take another sip. Breathing out hard I can taste oak and mild char......
Overall:I love rye...There is something about Rye that really draws me in. I'm sure there are better Ryes but for the price this is excellent. I've actually never even had regular Wild Turkey Bourbon so perhaps my analysis is incomplete.(Update: I have definitely tried WT101 now...Not my favorite but it's still bourbon and that aint bad) That being said, from one whiskey lover to another, this is fantastic...I like this alot and will not go without a bottle in my bar again...

Purchased at:PLCB store in Media
Purchased for:on sale for $17.99
Info on this bottle:current version
Nose:caramel, vanilla, oak...now to fine tune: sensing some quality (!) fruitcake, tobacco, dry leather, apricots...it goes on and on...
Taste:spicey toffee, that expected and appreciated WT burn up through the nostrils, dried fruit chewiness, more spiciness asserts itself amid highly-pixelated sweetness
Finish:wow again...maybe i'm craving a jolt or something, but this is possibly my favorite WT expression at this time...along with the WTRR101...two giants for sure: perfect, lingering burn that embers out slow and easy and continually fiery...but without that alcohol burn sense. this is rye asserting itself and proclaiming a signature sweetness that isn't necessarily mellow, but certainly complex...walnuts, mincemeat, citrus liqueur spilled somewhere in the vicinity
Overall:wow and hooray...finally, a WT bottling (in the last 3 months) i am not disappointed with...i was losing faith in my favorite fundamental signature flavor...this is the cock of the walk...i love the mellow Sazerac (almost too tasty!), but WT Rye makes you brace yourself for a deeper experience (maybe i should blend the two one day...let them fight it out and shake hands as soon as blood is drawn). WT Rye is THE high-end 'frontier' whiskey for sure....though it is happy to stay this side of the mississippi. maybe THE best value i've had yet. i've complained that i didn't pick up a CASE when it was going for $15.99 in late summer 2008...i'll be proud to pay the going $20.99 for it when it goes off sale.

Nose:Fruit, spice, mint candy, leather, rye, and some floral elements take you on a delicious aromatic journey.
Taste:Spice, cinnamon, and soft sweetness set your mouth aglow with zingy flavors.
Finish:The glow from the zippy flavors dies as slowly as a charcoal fire
Overall:For about $20 you can have a first rate whiskey that is for grown up tastes.

Purchased at:Obu, Japan
Purchased for:2360 yn
Info on this bottle:standard+japanese writing& 700ml
Proof Of this Bottle:101
Nose:Rye and a cosmetic smell. (sorry not much on the olfactory)
Taste:Smoky, spicy, spicy, spicy.
Finish:A little dry and abrupt.
Overall:A bit much for 700ml. Of course I always get angry about paying the full price+ silly Japanese consumer price for less than 750ml.
Would I buy it again? NO! However, with that said I can't say it was bad.
It was somewhere between a bourbon and a whiskey/whisky.
Somewhat spicy, very interesting and not bad at all.
Of course don't take my word on it. Nor should you live vicariously through me.
Seize the moment and try it for yourself. Just make sure you get all 750 ml's worth for whatever you pay.

Nose:Surprisingly bright and spicy w/ some fresh fruity notes and a background of leather.
Taste:Lively w/ some honey flavors, light but not without a touch of oiliness, very well balanced and elegantly complex.
Finish:Pleasingly dry w/ a complex oaken tang.
Overall:Excellent whiskey and a nice departure from Wild Turkey's bourbon offerings--still familiar but different enough to keep it interesting.

Purchased at:Louisville
Purchased for:$18.00
Info on this bottle:Standard current bottling
Nose:A very interesting, enticing nose of candy, damask rose, honey, sandalwood: like a quality Turkish delight sampled within distance of an almost extinguished campfire.
Taste:Absolutely outstanding: soft as rainwater, honeyed, the wood and its subtle smoke integrating perfectly with the flavors apparent in the nose. Light and delicate despite being 100 proof. This trumps any Cognac I have had recently, any whiskey I have had recently frankly. Is Pernod Ricard bringing in cognac blenders to work with Jimmy? (That's a joke).
Finish:This is the quintessence of fine American straight whiskey. It is a crime to drink it anything other than neat, in small amounts to appreciate the quality. This brand has made giant's steps in recent years. Honestly, as good as some extra-aged whiskeys are, why bother with them when you can get this?
Overall:The apotheosis and a superb achievement of American distilling skill.

Purchased at:Sigman Bottle Shop, Conyers, GA

Nose:For me, a surprisingly rich and interesting nose........not exactly what I was expecting. You are greeted with a fruity perfumy nose that only slowly betrays the fact that this is a predominately rye whisky. The nose is rich with honey, vanilla, corn, leather...... in addition to the rye spices that one would expect. This is an excellent nose that invites you to come back for several visits as the aromas unfold with time.
Taste:Spicy with a complex sweetness that holds your interest and challenges you to identify its components. There is the hint of corn, caramel, anise, and vanilla which are its primary sweetners, and then comes the rye which in addition to its spice, adds a slight sweetness unlike that in most other whiskies. Before you is a very complex flavor profile that is just marvelous.
Finish:The finish is long, rich, complex, challenging, interesting, and satisfying.
Overall:A first class whisky in my opinion. It is a sensual delight that perks you up and makes you take notice. A gem of a whisky! Why have I waited so long to taste this when so many others have said how great this whisky is? I have no answer, but, if like me, you have been waiting for the right occasion, it is now!!

Nose:Slightly burnt biscuits and honey. Very pleasant indeed.
Taste:Front palate is dominated by vanilla oak which slides into a mid-palate reminiscient of roasted malt with a little chile pepper thrown in for spice.
Finish:Definite ethanol burn with impressions of orange peel and tannin. Finish faded rapidly but was otherwise really nice.
Overall:Overall a well balanced rye. This is a simple yet high quality product at a good price.

Review from gillmang (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 106)
Purchased at:New York City
Purchased for:Circa $20
Info on this bottle:Bought recently
Nose:Lightly smoky nose, sweetish cereals, complex, perfumed (damask curtains in the rich uncle's house)
Taste:Sweet cured oak, spicy, tangy yet soft. Very balanced, containing (surely) older whiskey than bottlings of some years ago. Powerful yet stylish (unusually for rye), classy
Finish:Alcohol tangs in the mouth, "effervescent", light citric notes, smoky scents, light "old barrel" notes (proving current bottlings contain older whiskey than bottles of a few years back which were youngish, tasting of blonde honey and corn stalks)
Overall:Highest quality, best Wild Turkey rye I've had in over 20 years of sampling the brand. For connoisseurs of old time straight whiskey. Great value.
