Nice review X. I still have some of the '09 BB so I decided to have a sip, the first in a long while. The nose is a bit more woody than I recall and there is a distinct nutty aroma too. As you note there is some honey and brown sugar and dark chocolate, along with the oak char. A complex and interesting nose that at this point seems as if it must lead to some significant tannic notes in the taste. Following your suggestion, I am leaving it in the glass for 15 minutes before tasting. There is nice upfront and oily sweetness that is captured by the rye at midpalate. As expected the drying tannins jump in and almost obliterate the lingering sweetness, but not quite. The finish is moderate and contains some subtlety. This has the taste of an ultra aged bourbon and is one that I still like. The tannins in this bourbon are not bitter to my palate, but give it a maturity that I still much enjoy. I stand by my original review in believing that it is excellent bourbon, but not one that all will care for.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light. - Dylan Thomas
