My uncle in Forth Worth (now in his 70s) recently showed me a bottle of bourbon which had never been opened. The bottle label says: "Bourbon Deluxe" "L. Eppstein & Son, Fort Worth" Words to the effect: "This is likely the oldest whiskey in the world" "About 126 proof". It obviously is old, the glass has lots of air bubbles in it. Half of the spirits have apparently evaporated out of a probably long dried out cork, but the seal is still intact on the top of the bottle. (My uncle and aunt seldom if ever drink, in fact, I was surprised to see alcohol in their house). My uncle turned it upside down and some of the bourbon leaked out the top, it still smelled pretty good! He is retired from a Fort Worth bank. He said the bourbon was put in the safe for the bank's 100 year anniversary (like a time capsule). When new ownership of the bank took over (he thinks about 1976) he was instructed to "get the bourbon out of there". It has been under his kitchen sink for 30 years. I see a reference in your Beam time line to "L. Eppstein" "Bourbon Deluxe" in Fort Worth in 1911. What should be done with this old bottle of bourbon..?
