I have not tried it but I saw it in the HH gift shop. It was very expensive. My thoughts are that it is probably "wood city", but I've not tasted it.

I don't care for these overage Craig expressions but there are those willing to pay the price.

I have tasted the 21 and 22, and I was not impressed, especially for the price. The 12, barrel proof, and 18 year (to me) are the best. The rumor surrounding this 23 is that it will be released nationally this fall. How much is it currently going for in the gift shop?

I bought a bottle yesterday and cracked it open last night. Yes it definitely has strong wood notes but not horrible. Not particularly fruity but Vanilla, leather, cinnamon flavors to me come through. I drank some neat but I think it taste better over an ice sphere To me it has a similar flavor profile to Elijah 12 but a woodier bourbon for sure which would be expected on an extra aged product. It is definitely not a sweet bourbon. It is good drink and I would buy again for a change, but pricey. I paid $176 for the bottle. I Still prefer Four Rose single barrel and barrel proof single barrels as my go to bourbons as I think they a superior value.

I would immagine that EC23 and Evan Williams 23 are the same whiskey. I had a taste of the Evan Williams 23 in the gift shop this past Sunday. I thought it was very good. Not overly wooded. The balance was exceptional. It was expensive though. I did not buy any.

It retails for $199 in my neck of the woods and I think it's not much higher through private party sales. I had some in a blind tasting where we compared a few expensive and affordable bourbons together. EC23 ranked lower than some much less expensive (but better value) bourbons. Like others mentioned, it's woody and not quite what I'd expect for that price.

It's funny though...after it was revealed and I knew I was drinking a $199 bourbon, it started tasting much better!

Old thread but I'll add to it with 2015 price info.

There's a bottle in Brooklyn, NY store for $299
At HH distillery gift shop it goes for $275
And I found a bottle in "hole in the wall" store 40 miles from Louisville, KY for $250

I tried it at HH distillery tasting session but will not comment based on that alone. I will get back to this after I try a few good portioned pours in my own house. Tasting at distillery was good enough to buy a bottle, I just hope it's as good when I'm not surrounded by all that HH swag, barrels and promotional speeches :D

That's a little more than I'm willing to pay for it. I, too had it in the HH tasting. It's good, but IMO not 300 dollars good.

Plus one. I too tasted it at HH. Decent, but worth no where near $300 to me.
