I finally killed the Old Grand Dad 114, and it was good. This heavy hitter got the best of me more than once. It will be replaced eventually, but I dropping down to the 90+ proof range for a bit. Got a bottle of 1792 (they dropped the Ridgemont and the age statement) and I got some Larceny too which is easy to drink at 92 proof.

the first, and only, bottle Ive had before was given to me as a gift. it SCREAMED WT rather than HH in profile. fortunately, I like WT 101, and this was like a 10 year WT101, which I liked.

This one is like a refined HH6BIB. sweet and smooth, all the rough edges rounded off the 6 year. I like, but dont love, the 6 year, though I love it for the price. this one is a 12 year old barrel, and really nice. I went back and got another one for the stash today, leaving 4 more on the shelf. their sale is on til nov 1, so, I may be back for more.

we're looking at moving soon, and the stash size is going to be realized once that time comes. may need a bigger garage!








on topic, enjoying a pour of HW double rye tonight. its obviously higher in percentage of the 2 year rye, but still pretty nice. Ive been on a rye kick lately.

Having the last of my true 15 YO Noah's Mill......... always liked that stuff, but have not tried the newer NAS version. I added a mite of MM cask strength to soften the tannins.

And now for some Baker's, in my opinion, Beam's best bourbon. Very well balanced bourbon.

Well it's Saturday and our team won so I think I'll have some Old Grand Dad BIB.

sat around a fire with a bunch of friends, homemade pumpkin pie, good music, and some 7 year Old Scout Rye barrel proof. This stuff has quickly become one of my favorites.

Having a sip of Wild Turkey Russell's Reserve 10 YO Small Batch Single Barrel. At 110 proof, I added a dribble of filtered water. Fine American Whiskey with a great balance twixt the rye and the barrel flavors. I think the corn is in the conversation, but it merely mutters. Has a whiff of the aroma of my old baseball glove. I throwed it in the ring agin some OGD BIB wherein the corn does not mutter but pops.

Two fine American whiskies!

Yes, OGD BIB, what would we do without it.

went out the other day to snag the rest of the last remaining stash of SAOS 8 year BP rye that I left on the shelf a few weeks ago in a small, but well stocked, neighborhood liquor store. I had grabbed three, leaving 5 on the shelf. I went back to get 2-3 more to stash away, but someone else had raided it first. I hope they enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed them. I cant complain, I have 6 in reserve. Not to be defeated, I stopped elsewhere at a new (to me) store and walked out with two 2015-03 roundtable Booker's, first Id seen of them. Hoping they're as good as the 2014-06 roundtable bottle Ive almost emptied!

Having some of the new Pikesville Rye that HH released. Saw some on the shelf at 45 and grabbed it. It's really one of my first rye whiskies to try, so I can't say how it compares to RItt, but really enjoying it so far. I was surprised that at 110 proof there was no real evidence of it's high proof like you might get with OWA or similar.

I grabbed a bottle of Old Granddad 114 and Larceny, both for $21.99 each. Both are a fine value. The OGD is near barrel proof for a fraction of what it might go for, and the Larceny is fine too, comparable to Makers 46 and the Weller 12 (which you can't find anywhere).

HH 6 year 90 proofer.....looks like mrs fox and I might be moving soon and im trying to clear out the open bottles.

Yeah, moving is a hassle, I suggest you lighten the load.
