Toward the back of my liquor closet I noted a bottle of B&E bourbon from St George. It is a quite drinkable whiskey that I have not had for several years. No serious flaws, but no great strengths as far as I am concerned.

Tonight I'm sipping some Henry McKenna 10yr BIB. I haven't had this bourbon in awhile but thought tonight I would. Although this isn't a particularly expensive bourbon it's one I ration because I have to go out of state to get it! I'm enjoying it enough to wish I could have it more often.

I'm having Jack Daniels in honor of the late Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead, gone at 70. Lemmy was known for drinking more than his share of JD throughout the years.

I don't often drink Jack Daniels, but when I do it's in honor of Motorhead.

Being in Alabama at the moment, I got me some Virgin 7 y/o, 101 for 13 bucks. I'm getting ready to open it.

I am having a 50/50 mix of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked (I like a bit more tannins than most folks) and Maker's Mark Cask Strength (111.4 proof). The WR is a bit too tannic on its own, and the Marker's Mark ( like all its bourbons) has a too abbreviated finish. This mix works well for my palate.

Ive been working over a bottle of KC rye lately that was gifted to me a few months ago. Its growing on me, though it seems more a bourbon than a rye in taste.

also been having some WT101 lately, and am baffled why this isnt enjoyed more/is badmouthed among enthusiasts. Likely the best thing under $20 to me.

I also enjoy WT 101, especially when Pennsylvania closed out liters of it for 14 bucks.

Sometimes I think our fellow enthusiasts seek new over tried and true. A solid product at a decent price just seems too common to comment but there are hyped NDP labels out there that can only aspire to reach what WT does everyday.

Truth be known, my two open bottles right now are a handle of WT101 and a bottle of Jack. They are both very good, and the distillers both have long traditions of excellence. Big brands are bit boring for forum fodder but they sure do drink nicely.

Also have some Larceny, Knob Creek and others waiting in the wings.
