Blanton's Price Increase

Has anyone else seen the current price on Blanton's? My local store just got a few bottles in and had it at $69 a bottle! I'm ashamed to say I bought a bottle and want to know if this price increase is widespread.

I've seen it anywhere from $54.00 to $80.00 around where I live Randy. Most places are generally in between with a mid/upper $60 dollar price tag.

I thought it was over priced when it was $50.00 a bottle. I like it, but I don't like that much.

It shows up 2 or 3 times a year here in MN.
At 49.99 the 6 bottles they get allocated sell out in 1 hour.

In a relative sense a bottle of Blantons at $69.00 is less than tickets to a live performance I will enjoy only once.

In a comparative sense any bottle of Bourbon that costs three times more than OGD BIB is overpriced.

$48.99 in my store in CT. Don't get too much of it during the year though.

It was $100 for the 750ml in my area. $49.99 for the 375ml. They only got one case of each size. 750 is now sold out but plenty of the 375 left.

To those who say "I will not pay over $50 for it" - what WOULD you pay $50-80 for (that's currently on the market for that much, let's not go into wishful hoping)

Ok so I just went in to my local retailer to restock, I did not see any Blanton's on the shelf, so I brought some other goodies. On my way out I spotted the Blanton's in the high end case. When I looked they had it priced at $199.99 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF? Did I miss something?

Lots of things other than American whiskey. A higher grade of Redbreast, say, or Green Spot. Or Gibson's 18 years old (Canadian).

And many malts would qualify. American whiskey needs to be careful not to throw out the baby with the bathwater.
