Maker's Mark vs Old Fitzgerald 1849 (8 YO)

This is your ringside reporter ready for action between the famous Maker's Mark, known for his skillful marketing, and an old fellow (Old Fitz 1849 8 YO) somewhat unsteady on his feet because he now has no home, but who always had a small but faithful following.

Maker's Mark throws the first sweet punch.........and how sweet it is. He is light on his feet and is rapid with his jabs. But, he has been known to fade fast. Can old man Fitz hold his own against this 'youngster'? Old Fitz barely absorbs Maker's quick jabs but, being more mature, he bides his time, but his counter punches are not so sweet and make little impression on Maker's Mark.

We are entering the middle rounds now folks, and Maker's is reaching back in his bag for some zip to his punches, but his youth is showing and his jabs are growing weaker. Old 1849 holds on, having been rocked on his heels several times. The youngish crowd smells a victory for Maker's, but they, like their hero, are a bit quick to bring it to an end.

Zowee! Old Fitz landed a spicy haymaker on Maker's chin..........but the young crowd has already declared Maker's the winner and has lost interest.

Old Fitz is coming on strong in the middle and late rounds. But Maker's, like his fans, seems to have lost interest in the fight. He thinks the fight was really over in the first few rounds, is leaving the ring, and his fans completely agree.

Old Ftiz is fighting a phantom now, aware that it is over for him, he has no future, and no home. He coulda been a contenda (Marlin Brando's ghost, do you hear?).

A lone figure remains to see Old Fitz leave the ring and gives Old Ftiz a nod. Old Fitz, while only a 'has been' bourbon, nods back and retires to the dressing room.

Are we not, the best of us, Old Fitz's in the end.............and.........is that not as it should be?

Rage, rage against the dying of the light. - Dylan Thomas
