The Weller shortage of 2015

Unread postby Birdo » Sat Mar 28, 2015 2:37 pm

Weller is tough to find here in Louisville. They only had 1.75liter SR version at Liquor Barn. Zero Antique or 12year flavors which is what I wanted.

Lots of great higher end stuff available from Four Roses and Woodford though. I walked out with Elijah Craig 12 and a Larceny. An oddity price wise was the OF Sig 100 proof: $21.99 for 750ml, but only $0.30 for the full liter. so I grabbed a liter just in case.

The 12 year has been showing up here at various stores. Both 1.75 and 750ml. I have been hording it as I have a little extra cash to spend. No Antique yet which is my personal favorite. I talked to one of the stores managers and he told me once this batch was gone not to expect any more of the 12 year till November. The 750ml has been running $19 to $22 depending on store. I paid $44 for 1.75l

Nabbed a bottle of SR. They had the 750 and the 1.75. Considering a have an ocean of bourbon on hand, I went with the 750. Taste better than I remember. Had a bit neat, and the 50/50 with ginger ale. This is a nice easy summer bourbon. The 7 year age statement is gone, but the bourbon is good.

I'm glad it's showing up there. By the way, where is here?
