Hunting bourbon between Chicago and Indianapolis

Unread postby ChitownBourbon » Mon Jul 21, 2014 4:26 pm

I am heading out on a road strip from Chicago to Indianapolis tomorrow and would love to hunt some rare and dusty bottles while I am on the road.

Anyone have any tips of places I might check out along my journey?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

I am also curious to hear answers to your question, as I will be in Indy two weeks from now. Any time I go on a trip, I'm always attempting (provided there is time) to scope out some local shops for good deals/rare finds/unique selections.

I'm originally from Indy, living in northern Illinois now. I have a sister that lives in NE Indiana, and I visit her occasionally. I also make my way down through Indy on my way to and back from my semi-annual visits to Bardstown. I've taken several routes though Indiana on my travels, and I've stopped at quite a few places. I hate to say it guys, but there just isn't much out there any more. I'm not saying that there's absolutely nothing to still be found, but there are a lot of bourbon lovers in Indiana, and the pickins' are mighty slim.

Thanks for the input Joe.

I did a quick search on the old internets and found two places of interest (that are coincidentally in walking distance from my hotel), Crown Liquors and Kahn's Fine Wine and Spirits. The first appears to be a chain of stores and the second has several barrel selections listed on the website. So I'm putting those two on my list...

I've been to Kahn's, although it's been a while since I was there last. No dusties, but a good selection and fair prices. I bought a couple of their private barrel selections that were pretty good. Good luck on your trip.
