Bourbon similar to 2008 Pappy 15?

Unread postby latnay90 » Mon Jul 07, 2014 3:59 pm

I'm now to the forums here, so if this post is in the wrong section please forgive me. I have tried more conventional methods of finding any info I can on this, but haven't had any luck yet. I recently opened a bottle of 2008 Pappy 15, that I was lucky enough to buy at retail price, at a liquor store, here in 2014. I had planned on drinking it on special occasions only, especially after tasting the 2013 Pappy 15 and finding out that the new is nothing like the old. However, I couldn't help myself. The 2008 bottling was so good that I killed it in a little under two weeks. The first sip reminded me of Old Weller Antique, but after a side-by-side tasting of the two, I found that the Pappy 15 is not as similar as I first thought. I was hoping that someone who has tried the 2008 Pappy Van Winkle 15 Year could give me a recommendation on anything similar in profile, or is there simply nothing that compares to the Stitzel-Weller juice?

Try William Larue Weller. When you cut it, it comes close.

I've yet to come across a bottle, but that is at the top of my list at the moment. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it.
