Help! Birthday Present Needed for Bourbon Lover!

Unread postby LittleBourbonDoll » Sun Apr 27, 2014 5:43 pm

Hello,

My father is the person who started my love for bourbon. Ever since I was little he let me take sips of his various drinks, bourbon, whiskey, beer, wine, etc. But my father's favorite of them all is by far bourbon! He and a few of his neighbors have started a little bourbon club where they each bring a bourbon and share while sitting around, talking and sipping. He loves trying new bourbons and has tried many...... this is my problem!

I want to get him a nice bottle of bourbon that he hasn't tried before to either horde for himself or take to share with his buddies. His birthday is 07June2014 and I need some advice/help.

I can't spend a ton of money but my dad/best friend is worth at least $50 and I know some great places around where I live that might be able to help me special order something if I have to.

I just saw the Double Oaked Woodford Reserve and my interest was peeked by that I've seen some mixed reviews by people who really enjoy the original, which is one of my father's favorites.

All help appreciated!!!!! Thanks!

~J

If you can find a store that has barrel strength Four Roses single barrel bourbon that the store hand selected, those are usually very good, they are distinct and unique and are right around your price point.

Wild Turkey Rare Breed is a favorite around here.

Im not really a fan of Brown Foreman products, but if Woodford is his favorite, maybe you could track down a bottle of Old Forrester Birthday Bourbon. It's pretty highly regarded, and has 'birthday' in the name.

I would ask him, or one of his friends, what brands he hasn't tried but would like to and if there are several choices post them here and we'll talk about them.

You can never go wrong with a bottle of Blanton's. $50-60 depending upon your store. :drunken:

Jack Daniels Single Barrel. Almost certainly he's never had it, it is very good and while not technically bourbon, has a similar quality.

Jack is broadly popular, but I've never 'gotten it'. I even re-tried it at a party last weekend, same result, regular and the JDSB

Can't stand Ol' 07 but the single barrel is quite good. Surprised me, and in a good way.
