What is JD Doing? Sinatra, Really?

So, I just saw a commercial for Jack Daniels Sinatra. Now, I'm not a JD drinker, but a 90 proof JD might peak my curiosity to try it. First I read they are putting grooves in the staves, then i saw the price...are they insane! Over $150 for a bottle! It's one think to have a gimmicky kind of product, but this is just a joke. If they want to honor Sinatra, they should release JD at the proof it was back when he drank it.

I myself am a JD drinker. I find No 7 to be comforting and nostalgic and the single barrel is actually good whiskey. That being said, never would I pay that price. I believe it to be similar to JW blue label, an expensive status symbol with fancy packaging; a nice gift. I would be excited to receive this as a gift but I would never buy it. I have heard rave reviews, however. I'm yet to read a negative one

They're whoring out a legend. What else is new?

This is not a homage to Sinatra, rather a business venture between JD and the Sinatra Estate who holds the commercial rights to his name and image. Pure marketing, straight out of Hollywood, routed through Tennessee.

For that we should be grateful Gary, at least they are putting out something unique.

Oh yes. It has a richness like a good single malt but with a big bourbon/JD taste behind it. Suave and very good.
