Wow, cool picture, Randy! Even though you wouldn't do it again, how did the whiskey compare to the current version?

The flavors are more akin to the Very Old Fitz's from the '60's than Julian's current bottlings. I find a bit of "ripe banana" in those older SW's that I usually don't get in recent bottlings of SW whiskey. Julian told me the mash bill was changed slightly upon the distillery's sale in the early '70's.....perhaps that accounts for the differences. Anyway, I acquired these bottles in order to taste older SW whiskey that was selcted by Julian as opposed to the VOF's. It is excellent whiskey......perhaps even the "holy grail" of SW bourbons for me. Julian poured me this same whiskey at 16 years of age (as opposed to 14yo) and it was also excellent. Its rarity makes it too expensive for further purchases.
