Bourbons I have not tried

Unread postby thomas15 » Sun Jan 19, 2014 10:15 pm

The following is a list of Bourbons and bourbon style whiskies that are the topic of discussion here that I have never tried. An * means I have it in my locker but haven't opened it yet.

The list:

Ancient Age
Bakers
Blanton's
Bulleit *
Eagle Rare
Early Times
Elijah Craig *
George Dickel
Jefferson's
Larceny
Makers Mark
Old Crow
Old Fitzgerald
any Van Winkle
VOB
W L Weller*
Woodford

Question: could I be considered a slacker?

Well you already have 3 in your stash to try. Bulleit never did too much for me, but Elijah Craig (12 I'm assuming) and the Weller line are among my regulars.

Blanton"s, while a little spendy, is an exceptional bourbon and Woodford Reserve and Double Oak are certainly must haves.

Looking at your list, my question would be, what HAVE you tried?

Good question. For the most part I have drank mostly Jim Beam, JD and Evan Williams. A creature of habit I am. Then last year I decided to expand my horizons in this area and found this site which really brought the diversity of bourbon to the forefront.

Explore all the Wild Turkey products: WT 101 (stay away from the 81) WT Rare Breed, WT Kentucky Spirit (single barrel), Russel's Reserve Bourbon and Rye, and the 8 yr old and 12 year old WT if you can find those two. Happy Turkey shoot!

I just finished off a bottle of WT 101. It took me about 25 days. I have to say that is is quite spicy but enjoyable. I have a bottle of Rare Breed in the locker but I'm going to replace the empty 101. On that, while I sampled the 101 every day, in the future I think I will keep it around for those days that I feel like drinking it.
