I'm also looking forward to seeing the results of this poll.
I voted "I do not do bourbon reviews because I do not
find the aromas and tastes that the reviewers claim
they do" which is pretty self-explanatory. I've been a
bourbon/whiskey drinker for almost 30 years and when
I read "...hints of nutmeg, caramel, and chestnut", I'm
thinking "HUH?!" I am able to discern taste differences
between various bourbons but I'm afraid my palate just
can't see the subtle nuances of an individual bourbon
that other tasters do (maybe those 30 years have
something to do with it...)
One time I can recall being able to pinpoint different
flavors of a drink was with a bottle of KILO KAI spiced
rum. My wife & I opened one up and after tasting, she
ran to the pantry and pulled out a spice rack. She could
pick out the individual spices better than I but I was able
to follow along. (By the way, KK gets a big thumbs up
from me. From the skull & crossbones logo to the frosted
brown bottle with grip tape along the neck - it's a cool
looking bottle and the insides aren't too shabby either.
Consider it a practice drink for those wishing to improve
their review skills!)
That said, I'm happy to contribute photos for the bottle
reviews whenever the call goes out. We all help out
however we can...
