This is a new product by Heaven Hill do to be released in September. The story of the brand name is playing on the legend that Fitzgerald always knew where the best barrels were in the warehouse and Herbst used this knowledge to create the Old Fitzgerald brand. You could say this was a very early "small batch" bourbon of selected barrels. The important thing here is that it is a very good bourbon at a decent price.

Prof. Veach wrote "I think this is going to be a hit for Heaven Hill. It is a very good bourbon made from 100 select barrels from 4th, 5th and 6th floors of the warehouses. It reminds me a lot of my old favorite Weller Centennial."

That's high praise indeed! I would love to have a bottle. :)

Linn,
I was talking with Larry Kass at Heaven Hill and he said they are pricing this to compete with Maker's Mark. I think they will do well at that $25 price range.

Gayle,
It's 92 Proof and made in 100 barrel small batches of 6 to 12 y/o bourbon.

I wonder why they didn't give it the classic Fitz strength of 100 proof. (Also the strength of Weller Centennial.)

Larry Kass states that they are going after the Maker's mark drinkers with the price point and I assume the similar proof. I think they will do well with the product, but Maker's drinkers are pretty loyal so it might not win many over.

Bourbonv, I agree. It is good juice. It is a very good every day pour and the finish isn't too sweet which I hate. Good review. I'll post mine soon.
