I have a 4/5 quart James B. Beam Distilling. co. incorporated bottle. Since 1795. Though the bottle plainly says Federal law forbids sale or re-use of this bottle, it has a hand written label that says Old Brook Hill Distilled 1889. So more than likely re used. The cork has about 1/4" or less deterioration. My father-in-law received this as a gift in the 1970's in a leather fur lined zipped pouch, any ideas???

Beam has been known to produce a number of specialty bottlings for gift giving using standard Beam whisky so the odds are the Bourbon was distilled 4-5 years before it was bottled. In the early-mid 70s it was common for all the major brands to have a special decanter style bottle during the Holiday seasons.
