help dating a W.L. Weller

Unread postby daddydrank » Sun Nov 20, 2016 2:08 am

Can anybody help me date this dusty? It appears to be an older bottle of W.L. Weller, as the main label seems ancient and the bottom of the bottle shows an 84 date code. However, the top of the bottle is clearly marked with a newer label with the website listed (and I'm pretty damn sure they didn't have a website in the 1980s). Can anybody make sense of this? Because I'm flummoxed.

The label says it was distilled in Frankfort, so that means it's Buffalo Trace distillate, and not Stitzel Weller. The one good thing about your bottle is that it's age stated at 7 years old. Buffalo Trace dropped the age statement on Weller SR a while back. It's decent, but not anything really "special". So open it up and drink it. FWIW, that's exactly what I would do.
"The only bad bourbon, is the one you didn't have."

Please drink responsibly
