I agree with Prof. Veach that the higher barreling proof is driven by economic factors. I believe that there is more than enough 80 proof Wild Turkey being bottled to make full use of what few barrels fall short of the magic 101 proof point. If Wild Turkey can sell every thing it can bottle and the rackhouses are full, then it makes economic sense to raise the barreling proof that will in time dilute down thus producing more bottles for sale using the same amount of barrels. Luckily Wild Turkey has that luxury, as most distillers are running 135-140 proof off the stills and then barreling at the legal maximum of 125 proof.

Since Wild Turkey has always been known for both distilling and barreling at a lower more flavorful proof, the increase had to be a modest one so as not to alter the taste of the matured bourbon too much.

So Mike, have they started that $36 million expansion at Wild Turkey yet?
