Wine & Spirit Bulletin - sources ?

There's a lot of history and 'lore' behind bourbon so discuss both here.

Wine & Spirit Bulletin - sources ?

Unread postby GWTaylor » Wed Aug 01, 2007 10:22 am

I have seen the bound issues of Wine & Spirit at Louisville library.
The years 1885-1890 and 1892-1899 are missing.
Does anyone know the location of any other issues ?

Thanks

The Wine and Spirits Bulletins at the Louisville Public Library are the only copies I have ever seen. Your best bet for trade magazines are at the New York Public Library - They have Bonefort's on microfilm. Mida's Criteria and the Louisville based wine and Spirits Bulletin are very rare. I suspect that libraries tossed out any they collected when prohibition took effect.

If you are looking for basic distillery information I would suggest special collections at the University of Kentucky. They have a complete set of Sanborn whiskey books showing plats of the Kentucky distilleries from about 1885 to the 1970's.
