The Filson just received a menu from the Old house restaurant from the 1960s. It is interesting to look at the Bourbon Selection (85 cents per drink) that included a lot of known products of today, but also local brands such as Brown-Kaiser. In the back they had a special menu with products like Old Astor Made 1890, bottled 1916 at 26 years old, Four Roses Antique, Old Grand Dad 118 and Weller Anitique 110. Gary, here is some proof of an older, pre-prohibition Bourbon.

Mike, just idly looking for references to The Old House, I found this recent, rather detailed account:

The writer refers to a handwritten menu and a "drinks list". I wonder if that is the same one you are talking about.

He also refers to, and includes an image of, a volume of recipes from the restaurant. The volume appears to be printed in the usual way - so this must be something different from the handwritten menus, and drink list.

Gary, I have been in New york so sorry to take time to reply to your question, but yes it is a hand-written menu. The restaurant closed i believe in the early 1990s. This menu was probably from the 60s. the next time you are in louisville, you need to stop by the Filson and take a look.
