Does anyone have any information on this entry listed in the big financial index post?

East Economy (Beaver Co.) (P.O. Fair Oaks) Economy Distilling Co. (Inc.) Distillers, Dy.No.61, 23rd Dist., Office Pittsburg, Pa.

I'm trying to dig around and see if they were at one point located in Economy, PA, or at the very least the Old Economy area of what is now Ambridge, PA.

There's some info here:

http://www.pre-pro.com/midacore/view_ve ... id=PIT2404

which puts them in Pittsburg(h), and some here that puts them in Beaver Co.

http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1 ... 218,585307

Anyways, was just trying to figure out if there were any distilleries operating (legally) in Beaver County, PA, and this seems to be the only real possibility. Would love to hear if anyone has any more info on this company.

Cheers!

Yes indeed, the Economy Distilling Co was located in East Economy, PA in current Ambridge, PA on the Ohio River in Beaver County PA. It was started around 1824-1826 by 750 Harmonists that moved to the area from New Harmony, IN led by George Rapp. It was a self-sufficient society, but so productive that surpluses were sold to the outside world. The distillery's label was "Old Economy".
