I just saw this on Preiss Imports Website:

Picture This!

A treasure hidden in the heart of Kentucky... waiting... ageing... a small batch of exquisite Kentucky Rye. Preiss Imports was fortunate enough to secure a small quantity to share with the Whiskey Connoisseurs who are lucky enough to get their hands on this exclusive selection.

This KENTUCKY STRAIGHT RYE WHISKEY is truly worthy of the Hirsch Selection™ name! This extraordinary 21 year old Rye was bottled in 1983 by Kentucky’s own Hirsch Distillers.

Not sure if it was spoken about before but there's a picture of the label and when you click on it it takes you to the Kulsveens website. If it is anything like the 21 and 22 yo classic cask ryes that were out it should be good.

Here's the label:

That must just nudge out "Blanton's Straight from the Barrel" as the new Holy Grail.

Wow. Just Wow.

1. Hard to get (presumably)
2. Old (OCO loves the oldies!)
3. I have a soft-spot for straight rye
4. The Hirsch name and legacy.

Maybe I'm overreacting, but at this point, that's the hooch I'm clammorin' for at the Gazebo!

Okay, I see, thanks.

Interesting that the ad copy accompanying the photo gets it wrong. Clearly the whiskey was distilled in 1983 not bottled in that year.

Oops, my mistake, what I saw was the Hirsch Selection 21 YO Canadian Rye. Wonder if that is a very different animal?

I've got the Hirsch 8 and 10 year Canadians. I've popped the 8. It's light and easy like typical Canadian whiskey. Gotta check to see if we are getting any of this in NY, though.

They had this baby open at WhiskyFest but I got there so damn late I missed out. I hear it should arrive in NY within the next few weeks. I'll get my hands on some, I hope.

LeNell, there was a nice note about LeNell's in New York magazine, the issue in October that had a feature on Redhook area referring e.g. to its "antebellum" structures and the way the area has developed over the years. I assume you saw it, it was a nice tip of the hat!

Got to try it finally. Sales rep was kind enough to bring a drop by. It's heady, woody, and what you expect from a whiskey this old. Not my style of rye, but not a bad whiskey, for sure. Pricey, pricey. On the shelf at right over $100. Due in later this week.
