Here is another that I thought might interest some people but I was unsure as to where to put it.



Gordon / Tanqueray Gin Heritage

1740 - Charles Tanqueray creates his gin formula (Liquor Store
Magazine, 2/70).

1769 - Alexander Gordon opens a distillery in London (Liquor
Store Magazine, 2/70).

1891 - Tanqueray "Old Tom" gin advertised in Wine and Spirits
Bulletin (Louisville Public Library).

1892 - Tanqueray "Old Tom" gin advertised in Wine and Spirits
Bulletin (Louisville Public Library).

1934 - DCL sells National Distillers 40% share of DCL Deleware
allowing National to Distribute Gordon's, Burnett's and
Vicker's Gins (American Wine and Liquor Journal, July
1934, p.65).

1966 - Tanqueray files suit against price cutters in New York
(Bev. Media, July 1966, p. 77).

o - Gordon's Gin and Vodka is being produced domestically
by Renfield Importers, Limited (1966 Red Book, p.47).

o - Tanqueray Gin is imported by the James M. McCunn &
Company, Inc. (1966 Red Book, p.37).

1969 - Tanqueray participates as a sponsor of the Bob Hope
Desert Classic Golf Tournement (Bev. Media, June 1969,
p.132).

1970 - Tanqueray is awarded a trademark in the U.S. for its
bottle. The bottle is shaped as an old London fireplug
with a distinctive green glass with red seal with the
letter "T" in script on the seal (Beverage Media,
September 1970).

1976 - Article about Tanqueray in the U.S.A. in the January
issue of Beverage Media (p. 79).
