From Shanken News Daily:

Louisville Distilling Extends Angel’s Envy With Rye

Louisville Distilling, the recent venture by former Brown-Forman master distiller Lincoln Henderson, is adding a rye whiskey under its Angel’s Envy brand. Angel’s Envy Rye (100 proof) is made up of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. It was aged for six years in American charred new oak barrels, then finished in Caribbean rum casks for up to 18 months. The new rye offering will hit select markets including California, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas in May, retailing at $79.99 a 750-ml.

Angel’s Envy Rye follows in the footsteps of the brand’s core Bourbon offering, which is 86.6 proof and retails around $46. The Bourbon was introduced in 2010, and has enjoyed critical acclaim, including a score of 93 points from Whisky Advocate.

80 bucks is too much for a 6 y/o Rye IMO.

I think it's a great price! I won't be buying any, however, so that may color my opinion. 'Angel's Envy' is the perfect name for a brand that's just part of the froth on the whiskey ocean.

Couldn't agree with you more Joe. I'm a big fan of the standard Angel's Envy, but they really jacked up the price on the cask strength, and now this. Very disappointing

That's way too much money for rum flavored bulk whisky.
