Dickle Rye, anyone had it?

I have seen it a couple places but for $28 it cost I'd rather get some opinions 1st.

I googled a little, seems it's an LMI distillate with the typical rye mashbill 95% rye, 5% barley malt. So very like Bulliet rye with a little more age and charcoal filtered before being barreled.

What's LMI?

I've seen Bulleit Green. It's like 90% rye. Probably lot more spicy and spiky then Dickel.

Dickel Select has a lot of power. It's not a rye.

I bought a couple bottles for $20/750ml. I hear it's very similar to Bulleit Rye, but I haven't popped a cork yet.

(I think he meant LDI distillate)

I bought one and I quite enjoy it. It's herbal and inky like the Bulliet, but then there's the signature Dickel charcoal mellowness. I quite like it and it will be replacing my Bulliet Rye most likely.
If you have anything Michter's or Pennco and would like to sell it or share it with me, please let me know.

LDI is/was Lawenceburg Distillers Indiana, now it's MGPI, still the largest provider of bulk whisky in the country. Any brand that says 95% rye is MGPI.

Just bought a bottle the other day for $32. Yea, that's kinda expensive but still cheaper than Bulleit Rye, which is the same LDI/MGPI juice. It has that signature herbal/mint/grassy LDI house flavor and none of the typical Dickel "vitamin" flavor. So far it's winner for me and I hope the price comes down some. The LDI 95% rye offers something that Ritt BIB just doesn't have. Cant quite describe it though, and I'll let those with more experienced palates figure that house flavor out.

I found a bottle for $21, it is not entirely dissimilar to the bulliet but it is it's own juice too. I get char from it I don't get from bulliet.

Finally found a bottle in this area. With 101 Rye gone, I need a sub $30 go-to rye.

Options around here are severely limited (no Ritt) in that regard, so it's pretty much either Bulleit or Dickel (though I'll try Jim Pepper next).

I must say, I'm still not quite sure what to make of the Dickel. The flavors are really wonderful, but there's something a little too subdued about them. It's got a little sweetness that's lacking in the Bulleit. Bulleit seems more spicy, minty and dry in comparison.

Love the overall flavor profile, and I think I do like it a touch more than the Bulleit, but it feels like it's lacking some sort of punch.

Not sure if it's an "absence makes the heart grow fonder" thing, but I preferred Turkey 101 Rye. '

Nice whisky that I'll certainly buy again though.

I have a bottle that I have not opened yet -- will post as soon as I get done with (or tired of) my overly-woody Whistle Pig. N.B., price varies a lot on this. I picked mine up for app. $22 in Delaware but where I live in NY it goes for $34. Just shopping locally, my go to budget rye (now that WT101 is no longer) would be Rittenhouse BIB, but that is strangely cheaper here in NY (app. $22-25) than elsewhere.

Joe: do you mean it is being produced but stockpiled, cause it's not on the shelves...

I can find it at one place locally (old stock) but it is not currently being bottled as far as I understand and has been replaced as an 81 proof rye until they make more rye to keep up with demand.
