Purchased at:LCBO in Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada
Purchased for:Don't know? It was a gift...
Info on this bottle:( no age statement) Jefferson's Reserve Very Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Very Small Batch...Batch # 367 Bottle # 04904
Nose:Vanilla, honey, oak, caramel, brown sugar...Nothing overpowering...Very well integrated...
Taste:Corn sweetness and light vanilla moving into light barrel char...Not a heavy alcohol burn at all. Very smooth...
Finish:Lingering....Heavier on the oak and barrel char mingled with corn sweetness with some fading vanilla . Very little alcohol burn at all...There seems to be a slight medicinal quality near the very end...
Overall:I can't say how much this cost because it was a gift and asking that would be classless. It was hinted to me that this was over $60 CDN which is in Blanton's territory up here. But, this is a bit better than Blanton's. Good stuff, but, I don't know if it's worth the price?

Purchased at:Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board - The Commonwealth's Monopoly
Purchased for:$59.99 + 4.20 tax + $64.19
Info on this bottle:Bottled by Paramount Distillers, Cleveland, OH Prepared by Castle Brands, Lawrenceburg, IN
Nose:Sweet and full - vanilla, caramel and some oak. Very lush and inviting. Not much ethanol.
Taste:Fruit at first. Then good maple. Nice taste, but a little thin.
Finish:Weak - a lot of rye with some tobacco and wood near the end.
Overall:I guess Paramount have done the best they could with Midwest Grain Products' whiskeys. At least they [Paramount] don't lie about it, like so many others do.

This drink promises much on the nose, but delivers less on the sip and finish. For $60.00, I expected more flavor and finish.

That's not to say Jefferson's Reserve Very Old [How old? It doesn't say.] is a bad pour. It just doesn't justify the price.

Review from Wasatch (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 2282, Created:20131116202236)
Purchased at:On-line (Liquorama)
Purchased for:$39.99 750ml
Info on this bottle:No. 1835 of 2400 Bottles, Batch No. 148
Nose:Nice darker golden amber color.

Very nice vanilla note, caramel, some maple, nice oaky scent. Very Nice!
Taste:Sweet on the lips, very nice oak note, very light spice note, with some vanilla/maple thrown in. Quite different than most bourbons I've had.
Finish:Nice medium finish, which is slightly dry, very slight tobacco. Pretty smooth to say the least for a 90 proof bourbon. I like.
Overall:Definitely a keeper, would buy again. Very Nice Bourbon!

Purchased at:
Info on this bottle:Batch 70, bottle # 955 of 2400.
Nose:Immediate whack of alcohol on the nose leads to a 'saw mill' aroma. Not charred oak...think more like a trip to the lumber yard. Heat hides what little nuance is there. Slight pickup of vanilla, spun sugar and sweet corn.
Taste:Sweet, glycerin-laden on the entry. leading to a medium-body, round. Alcohol is a tad more integrated than the nose suggests, but still a tisch hot. Orange rind, rye, spice and barrel char.
Finish:Fairly lengthy finish, with heat just a little out of integration. The fatness and glycerin linger, but there's something lacking in the midpalate that I can't put my finger on.
Overall:All in all, a pleasant dram...and while a step above your everyday, I just don't see the excitement here. If you like 'em big and blowsy on the entry (insert joke here), and clean on the finish, this is your kinda Bourbon. I wouldn't pass up a glass of it...but won't go out of my way to buy another bottle.

Review from Mike (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 1661, Created:20090827174951)
Purchased at:On the Moon
Purchased for:A 5 cent cigar and a book of jokes
Info on this bottle:Very Old, Very Small Bitch 12 to 17 years
Nose:Leather, rye, walnuts, nutmeg (tiny whiff), oak, all in a pleasing array.............nicely, nicely, done, done.
Taste:Moderately thick and sweet, the corn and vanilla play, and, the viscosity holds the sweetness. The spice struggles for attention, but gets its say at just the right volume. Balanced and measured
Finish:Moderately long and interesting.
Overall:Excellent, but not great, whiskey at 90 proof. Worth the cost? If you want to know that, don't ask me, depends on whether you have the ich to try every whiskey you can get your hands upon.

Purchased at:Sigman Bottle Shop
Purchased for:$48
Info on this bottle:Small Batch 12 to 17 years old
Nose:A subtle and pleasing aroma with nuts, leather, oak, and vanilla sitting quietly for their aromatic portrait. And a nice picture it is too. The nose is caressed, not attacked.
Taste:Something of the nutty taste gets my attention, not a distinctly sweet upfront taste........hmmm, let's pour a skosh more into the glass...........nice subtle flavors, hard for me to define, but the rye barely peeks out.
Finish:JR has a moderate finish that leaves a bit of the nutty flavor around. I do not get much sweetness from this bourbon, but cannot deny that it is interesting none the less.
Overall:I would characterize this example of Jefferson's Reserve Very Old Bourbon as a bit different. As I noted above, there is a nutty aroma and taste that captures my attention and won't let it go. I like that aroma and taste and consider this to be a fine bourbon.

Review from Blue (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 162)
Purchased at:Local PLCB
Purchased for:$45.00
Info on this bottle:No. 522 of 2400 Bottles Batch No. 31 Very Small Batch
Proof Of this Bottle:90.2
Nose:Initial aroma's include corn silk, fresh cut grass, and vanilla. All very subtle.
Taste:Front palate is sweet corn and toffee transitioning perfectly to caramel and lightly charred oak on the mid palate. There was little to no alcohol burn at all. It was smooth and mellow all around.
Finish:The finish was lengthy and brought to mind sweet corn again mixed with a hint of vanilla extract. The sweetness was light on the palate but the vanilla was very pronounced on the tongue and then faded quickly. Again no alcohol burn at all.
Overall:This was a very enjoyable drink. Mellow and sweet with moderate complexity and at least some depth to the flavor and texture. My only problem is price. At $45.00 I had expected much more; but if your wallet is fatter than mine then it is definitely worth a try.
