Purchased at: | Gift from Ed Foote | Info on this bottle: | Distilled at Fairfield Distillery by Ed Foote and bottled about 1981. | Proof Of this Bottle: | 80 | Nose: | Just pouring this into the glass releases a floral aroma that fills the room. Honeysuckle and apple blossums with some caramel and vanilla in the background. After it breaths a while there is a note of dark chocolate and oak as well. | Taste: | Nice mouth feel with a slightly oily texture that coates the mouth. Sweet caramel and apples withsome wood tannins on the tongue with a smooth sweetness in the throat. No burn and only slightly warm as it goes down. | Finish: | Long and lingering with the fruity caramel apple sweetness leading into a slightly dry oak finish. | Overall: | This is a damn good bourbon. It is too bad that it is not on the market today. Ed Foote said that this was about 65% corn 25 % rye and 10% barley malt. It would have went into the barrel at no higher than 110 proof and aged for about 4-8 years. One thing I noticed last night was that it was slightly cloudy after sitting outside in the car so it was probably not chill filtered. |
