Bottling Info<From their website> The 80??? is a traditional bourbon, handcrafted with old-fashioned methods, using the finest natural ingredients, including at least 51% corn, along with barley and rye.

Jimmy Russell states that 80??? is an unpretentious, yet finely crafted bourbon. It's ideal on the rocks in a smoky bar, and perfect for those who enjoy bourbon with a mixer.

Wild Turkey 80??? has a deep, but soft aroma with classic bourbon characteristics of sweetness and corn. The excellent bourbon taste balances traditional caramel and vanilla flavors.

Purchased at:Toronto, current buy
Purchased for:$20 +
Nose:Fruity winy oak.
Taste:Despite the 81 proof, this whiskey, and unlike the corny-tasting stuff I encountered when it first came out, is sure of itself, meaning it has good structure, is completely mature and has all the contrapuntal tangs Bernard De Voto said good straight whiskey should have. What a difference a year makes. Another example of a low-priced bottle trumping over-wooded unbalanced older bourbons (including numerous of WT). The mingling was obviously carefully done by people sampling it neat.
Finish:Drying with notes of fruit and creosote. Very integrated taste. That taste panel got it.
Overall:9.5 out of 10. Keep it up WT, we have taken notice.

Review from Watson Roadster (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 2189, Created:20130419020306)
Purchased at:LCBO Stoney Creek,Ontario
Purchased for:$26.95 CDN
Info on this bottle:Wild Turkey 81 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Nose:Vanilla...Corn...Oak...Alcohol...
Taste:Some corn sweetness...A little vanilla...A little spice...A little oak...Some barrel char...
Finish:The corn sweetness and vanilla fades and the spice, such that it is,takes over with the oak and barrel char...It's not lengthy,but,acceptable...
Overall:This is the bottom shelf Wild Turkey offering that was recently reformulated. It is definately better than the original Wild Turkey 80.It definately has more flavour...I picked this up on sale for the same price as Beam White Label, and if it were that price all the time,I would take it over White Label.Unfortunately,it is regularily priced closer to Beam Black and it's not as good as Black. It is acceptable for what it's trying to be...

Review from Watson Roadster (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 1967, Created:20110605042637)
Purchased at:LCBO in Beamsville,Ontario
Info on this bottle:40% Export bottle...French and English..Obviously export...$27 and change
Nose:[Olfactory impressions]
Vanilla...Leather...Oak...Alcohol...
Taste:[Description of the initial taste impression]

Interesting for a bottom shelf offering...Slightly more complex than Jim Beam White, but not by much. Not as sweet, as Beam, with more oak and char....
Finish:[Description of the lingering taste impression]

Interesting and different....Vanilla/corn sweetness with a nuttiness(walnuts?) plus a slight hint of citrus...Not bad just different..
Overall:[Overall impression of this bottling]

Honestly,if this was a few bucks less,it would be an everyday pour..Sadly it is not...At this price point I have to give the edge to Jim Beam White Lable...I would be greatly interested in the higher proofs of WT ...Perhaps the 86 wt vs Jim Beam Black?I assume the higher proofs have a flavour profile that is greatly amplified?

A nice change of pace, but not an everyday pour at this price point...

Review from Hitch (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 1764, Created:20091124002542)
Purchased at:Topside Wine and Spirits, Louisville, TN
Purchased for:$18.00
Info on this bottle:Standard Bottle
Nose:This Bourbon has a nose that reminds me of vanilla and spice (the pepper that others have described). Definitely a little bit of alcohol in there as well.
Taste:Warm on the tongue, not a lot of taste on the front end of the tasting. It was bland compared to the stronger stuff that Wild Turkey produces.
Finish:The finish is where this bourbon really hits its stride. The alcohol and spice taste linger after it goes down.
Overall:I wouldn't recommend this for drinking neat or with a little bit of water. Any more water added to this, it loses almost all its flavor. However, I do recommend it for drinking with a mixer, like Ale8 or Ginger Ale. For the price of a mixer, this isn't a bad buy.

Review from Mike (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 1655, Created:20090817192937)
Purchased at:Sigman Bottle Shop, Conyers, GA
Purchased for:$5.49 for 200 ml
Nose:Rye, leather, walnuts, alcohol (surprise). It is Wild Turkey. More nose than many a whiskey. This ain't no whimp.
Taste:Soft in most respects, but not a pretender. It is bourbon, it is real, it is drinkable, it does satisfy, it is more subtle than the other WT whiskies, but when was subtlety ever a complement to a WILD TURKEY WHISKEY?
Finish:it don't hide.
Overall:You been drinkin bourbon (or Jack) and coke and want to drink whiskey straight for the first time? Try some Turkey 80, a nice introduction to the flavors that await you absent the sweeteners.

Review from Dump Bucket (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 1564, Created:20090517140029)
Purchased at:asked for a 101, bartender gave the 80 - casino
Purchased for:free - still to much
Info on this bottle:current
Nose:You know it is WT, but it had an astringent hit to it right up front, even in the rocks glass. The WT scent was very light and it smells young
Taste:Ooowww... not so good. The astringent nose comes out in the taste. Lots of flavor here, more than expected and not the flavors I wanted.
Finish:If you can get through the negative portions, the trademark WT is here. The good stuff ends quick and the memory is not so good
Overall:I will admit that if I had never had the great 101s from the 80s, I would probably not be so hard on this. The problem is there is just enough of the WT profile here to remind me just how good "GOOD" WT is.... and this is not it. Use as a mixer

Review from gillmang (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 1353, Created:20081115150307, Updated:20081115150649)
Purchased at:LCBO Toronto
Purchased for:$24.00 approx.
Info on this bottle:Bought in Ontario, standard current bottling
Nose:Sweet varnish and oak accents
Taste:Sweet wood notes, light-bodied but pillowy and smooth on the palate, some light citrus or apple notes
Finish:Some wood and char emerge and a younger bourbon profile stays with you.
Overall:Wild Turkey seems to be working on the palate of its whiskeys as sampled neat. This comes across as glycerine-like in its smoothness albeit youthful and vigorous (flavourful) in its way. An excellent 80 proof bourbon and much better than the price brands in its proof class.

Review from BuffaloBill (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 1278, Created:20080908013921)
Purchased at:Cape Cod, MA
Info on this bottle:Wild Turkey 80
Nose:I'm with bourbonv on this one... Caramel Corn, Leather, hint of Spice. There is a slight undertone of Citrus coming through, as in Lemon Peel. Go figure... ever so slight.
Taste:Throw it on ice and call it a day. Good for a quick conversation if there's nothing more interesting. Light and neutral.
Finish:15-20 seconds?
Overall:It has it's place on the bar. Done deal. BB

Nose:On ice is had a strong pepper nose and some alcohol - I could tell this was not tthe 101 I ordered
Taste:Bad
Finish:Worse
Overall:I usually like to leave a more detailed description, but I have nothing good to say. I ordered 101 and they brought me this. I could tell it was wrong from the start and went to the bar to verify... good story is the gave me the 101 to replace :o)

Purchased at:Bridges Liquors New Albany Indiana
Purchased for:18.00
Proof Of this Bottle:80
Nose:Very strong pepper, slight alcohol, not very pleasant
Taste:Hot on the tongue, strong burn. To me this is not sipping bourbon, but mixing.
Finish:Again hot with a strong alcohol tasted.
Overall:This is bourbon to mix or just throw back. From such a good name comes a middle of the road bourbon.
