Bottling Info<From their website> Smooth and richly colored, Wild Turkey Straight Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey is a genuine super-premium bourbon carefully crafted in the heart of Kentucky. Wild Turkey 8 Year-Old offers a lesson in traditional American values, most notably, the refusal to compromise on standards of excellence.

Jimmy Russell notes that unlike some of its competitors, "We make Wild Turkey the old-fashioned way. It's a totally natural process which takes substantially more time and money, but we believe it's worth it."

Wild Turkey 8 Year-Old has an exceptionally soft, but rich aroma for a high proof bourbon, due to quality at all stages of making and aging for 8 years. Its taste is powerful and rich with caramel, vanilla and notes of honey and brown sugar. The finish is very long, rich and full-bodied, powerful, yet soothing.

As many competitors distill at higher (and less expensive) proofs, they must add water to bring down the proof of their bourbons. Wild Turkey, on the other hand, comes out of the barrel at about 109???allowing our distiller to add little water and retain the true characteristics of the bourbon flavor. Wild Turkey is put it into the barrel at a lower (and more expensive) proof. Master Distiller Jimmy Russell likens it to making a great soup; if you cook it longer at a lower temperature, you retain the best flavors.

Info on this bottle:export 8yr from Japan
Nose:As close as you can get to the old 8 yr since 1994/5. Full of the wonderful WT nose, but not the depth or soul
Taste:Deeper than what you can get in the current 101, but lacks any cream and smoothness of the older 8 yr. Soft rye, unsweetened vanilla, etc
Finish:moderate to long. You can get up to 60 seconds from the finish, but not one that is waiting for. After about 20-30 seconds you have gotten all that of value ....
Overall:Thank you BJG for the 1/2 bottle. For the $$$ and shipping for this, I would rather find one of the old 8 yrs for $40 (twice what it would be in a store).

It is not bad and I am sure that in 10 yrs folks will say how this was the cat's meow...

Info on this bottle:Old #8 1992
Nose:Deep rich WT nose. Like the RR101 but even more full Deep amber in color. This is what bourbon is.
Taste:Ice Coffee, vanilla, sweet oak and light leather....
Finish:Everything good about WT. Vanilla, oak, leather, rich flavors of coffee and earth. What WT is in my mind....
Overall:This is a rich bourbon.... Really great stuff. I need more.

Nose:Wood, vanilla and a tinge of alcohol.
Taste:A little bit of rye, slight smoky taste and vanilla.
Finish:Spicy gives way to a sweetish taste (the poster above nailed it) that slowly diminishes.
Overall:Not bad for a mini. I think I would like to try the twelve next time. No where remotely close to the 1855, but really for 2 dollars and fifty cents I am a happy camper.

Info on this bottle:Wild Turkey Old No 8 - bottled in May 1995
Proof Of this Bottle:101
Nose:A lighter nose than any other Wild Turkey bourbon I have had. It has a prominent waft of apples and vanilla.......both mild but distinct. Leather struggles out after a while but not any rye. Quite nice but soft for a WT.
Taste:An almost delicate fruity sweetness greets the front of the mouth. It is not very viscous like the other 8 YO WT bourbons I have had and not as rich, But it is still an excellent sip with the rye bite being subdued in like manner to the sweetness.
Finish:Moderate finish with only remnents of fruit and vanilla sweetness.
Overall:I like this bourbon and am enjoying it, but it does not remind me of other Wild Turkey products.

Purchased at:Traded for this bottle
Purchased for:Promised to stop lying
Info on this bottle:In case of leakage drink immediately
Nose:Dark, deep, rich, and mysterious. Maple infused burnt brown sugar slapped on an old, well used, baseball glove. Corn and rye slip in sideways as a naked tease.
Taste:Evocative of childhood memories and associations........old men sipping and passing the bottle while nodding knowingly of its treasures.......the stories grow ever more bolder and the truth slides out of sight and hides its face, not because it is ashamed, but because 'NOW' has swallowed it. A beautiful bourbon, just like this one, brought even 'TIME' to its knees as it yielded completely to these old gents.......an unsurpassed and out of time moment! The rich creamy mouthfeel and playful spice sang together because the audience was knowledgeable and 'ripe'.
Finish:Time has quit the field. Rich, warm, and sweet, spice seize the void and the old men are immortal, as is their bourbon. The sins of their humanhood are given a bye. Collectively, on this day, they are spotless. If you can not love a child, or an old man, you are lost (and lost to time). They are never finished........with them, time has no dominion.
Overall:Great bourbon, like human beings, is outside time. Time can never be the measure of great creations, only small ones. WT 8 YO is beyond the reach of time, as are the old men who knew it and its forebears and loved them. Life is short, dangerous (the dangers are never really about our mortality, can we but learn that), and oh, so beautiful. The creations of men, such as bourbon, are also beautiful and also not without their share of danger.

Purchased at:Gift from Joe Luka - 1966 8 YO Wild Turkey
Info on this bottle:1966 8 YO
Proof Of this Bottle:101
Nose:Rich concoction of vanilla, oak, caramel, rye, citrus, corn, and wild flowers, just marvelous. Complex, interesting, tantalizing, mesmerizing..........If you had some of this I would steal it if I could..........or at the very least, I would be saying, 'I wish I had bunghole's 8 YO WT, and he had a better bourbon!'
Taste:Viscous, creamy, with corn, vanilla, maple syrup all in great complexity and harmony. A bit of pepper and spice slip in about mid way through the mouth and give it more balance.
Finish:Moderate to long finish with plentiful flavor left.......over which to discuss world affairs, the price of corn, and the demise of the 5 cent cigar.
Overall:Just a great bourbon. To my palate it is better than the 10 YO Russell's Reserve 101 (a very excellent bourbon that is gone the way of the dodo), and almost, but not quite, the equal of the legendary WT 12 YO. I was fortunate enough to have all three just at hand in a sipping tete a tete..........and all three belong with Mike Veach in the Bourbon Hall of Fame. They are that good, y'all!

Review from bourbonv (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 95)
Purchased at:Liquor store near Elkton Maryland
Info on this bottle:1983 bottle
Proof Of this Bottle:101
Nose:Corn and spice with a little floral note. Caramel toffe and oak wood. Very complex nose. This is a bourbon that you could take all day to nose and watch as it changes as it breathes.
Taste:Warm and oily with Corn and spice - nutmeg and allspice with a dry oak flavor that keeps the caramel toffee in balance. There is a dried fruit - dates that makes this bourbon very complex.
Finish:Oak and pepper changing into a more sweet fruity, vanilla finish that last for some time.
Overall:This was a great bourbon good for all occasions. Russell Reserve is the equivelint to this bourbon today.
