Purchased at:NC ABC Store
Purchased for:30
Info on this bottle:June 20 2000 barreled; Jan 7 2010 bottled; Barrel No. 288
Nose:Fruity. Oranges specifically. and oak and vanilla. As always, I smell caramel.
Taste:Medium burn with full vanilla flavor and spice and a nice oak taste. Leather. Black liquorish.
Finish:Medium finish. Lingering oak taste. No fruit or sweetness. Good. Earthy.
Overall:For the price, this is a great bourbon. Not sweet, but spicy and woody especially in the finish. It is simply balanced. One of the best value bourbons I've every tasted, in fact. Ridgemont Reserve is very similar to this one...both exceptional. It is only 87 proof but tastes bigger. Not thin on taste or too sweet. This bourbon is very good. I will revisit. It is a more affordable every day pour that allows you to have more in the glass without getting totally wasted.

Nose:punchy tropical. not much. I simply don't like Evan Williams by the way.
Taste:dry, prickly, syrupy, thin, little tannin. not much happens. little tongue burn.
Finish:drying menthol. Something else?
Overall:Single barrel is richer, controlled, and a lot less punchy then Evan Williams Black Extra Age. That Extra Black is so unrefined, So Dry, So Minty, So monstrous, So Evil. Many people like this feature but to me it's a nightmare.

Purchased for:$24/750ml CHEAP!!!
Info on this bottle:Barrel #116, 7/18/01-12/18/10
Nose:Sweet like corn, carmel and vanilla
Taste:Thick like a vanilla carmel, smooth. Complex rye spice kicks in late, but is not offensive or harsh.
Finish:long an memorable
Overall:Excellent bourbon. Typical high viscosity from HH. Like Fighting Cock only better thanks to the extra aging and barrel selection; it's one of their best. Sort of like Knob Creek, I like it a lot. This one is a welcome addition to my small batch collection. Excellent value.

Info on this bottle:Barreled on 3-19-01, Barrel #8, Bottled on 11-30-10
Nose:Sweetish nose with caramel, vanilla, oak, char, rye, and a flash of nutmeg? Warm, excellent, and very inviting.
Taste:Sweet citrus, caramel, vannila, with light oak and char, and some warm rye spice. Balanced, thick, and appealing.
Finish:Moderate to long finish with the spice keeping its grip awhile yet.
Overall:Reliably and dependably excellent whiskey from Evan Williams. Just can't go wrong with these boys, especially at $24.

Nose:Very sweet with hints of oranges and dried fruit. Not too overpowering.
Taste:Spicy fruit delivery with some vanilla and pepper. Again well balanced, everything has equal say. Quite enjoyable to hold in the mouth a bit and mull over the flavours.
Finish:The heat lasts, but not too long. The throat gets the remanants of the burn.
This whiskey finishes very very dry. Sends you back for more.
Overall:Quite an well polished experience. Its worth a try is you are after a well balanced bottle.

Info on this bottle:Vintage 99 Barrel #582; Barreled on 6-9-99; Bottled on 9-1-09
Nose:In the order of their appearance over about 10 minutes: soft caramel and light maple syrup, char and oak, walnuts and leather, citrus and rye.........an excellent bourbon nose that is fullsome.
Taste:Sweetness that is caramel candy like and almost as thick and creamy as Irish Creme Liquor. The viscous corny sweet sticks and gives the whole mouth a wonderful coating. There is a slug of warm spice from the middle of the mouth on back that is refreshing and cleansingly minty and cinnamony.
Finish:Moderate to long, freshens up the mouth while still leaving some pleasing honey like flavors behind.
Overall:A first rate $24 bourbon. Incredably rich, almost delicate in its serious sweetness, balanced across the palate, finishing off with a moderate bite. Get yourself some, soon, soon. You'll be glad you did..........plus in the seasonal (?) package you get a little pocket flask. Well done, Evan Williams!!

Purchased at:Cape Cod MA
Purchased for:$35
Info on this bottle:EWSB 1998
Nose:Initially upon opening it reminded me of Pappy 15 in the nose. Now some months later with the bottle remaining near-full (w/nitro) it shows dried fruit, ripe oranges, citrus peel, a slight coconut essence, spice, sea salt, and a fully mellowed character with good balance. It's lovely bourbon... with depth.
Taste:Full, round mouth-feel delivering a medium burn with lingering flavors of coconut and coconut milk. A solid hit of vanilla comes through underneath the coconut. Luscious. Full of ripe fruit and black pepper with huge legs and a pale amber color.
Finish:Awesome. Tingling heat around the sides of your tongue and upper lip. It's sparky. Warming in the throat. Soothing. Long, dry, and more coconut at the end leaving the palette clean.
Overall:Highly recommended. Worth every cent of what I paid for this bottle. BB
