Nose:Rich caramel and vanilla with oak wood and cinnamon spice. when warmed there is a nice fruity cherry and berries aroma that balances the wood quite nicely.
Taste:A blast of wood tannins leads into Fruit, ripe apples and berries, and caramel with some spiciness. The flavor is dominated by the high alcohol and wood flavors in the mouth and a little water or ice tames this effect allowing thos elusive fruits to come through.
Finish:It is the finish that makes this rye a superior rye to the last version. The finish has the fruit flavors and caramel and wood all competing for your attention, and the competition lasts a long time. It makes you want to take another sip but at the same time you want to savor this rich finish.
Overall:A very good rye to sip neat, but better with a cube or two of ice. I am not a cocktail person, but the recipes sent with the bottle do sound like they would be great with this flavorfull rye whiskey.

Nose:Lots of oak and caramel with a hint of ripe fruit - berries and plums. There is a nice spiciness to the nosethat is sweet spice such as cinnimon and cloves.
Taste:Sweet caramel and spice - lots of cinnimon and a bit of mint, with some fruit - berries and ripe apple leading into oak wood, but not overly strong in the oak with no tannic dryness in the mouth.
Finish:Long, woody and sweet. Oak wood and carmel/vanilla with just a hint of spice.
Overall:Not as much alcohol burn as you would expect, but there is enough to want to add a cube of ice or two and maybe a splash of water. Water tames the alcohol but the flavor is still robust and full bodied. A great rye.
